Ayiri Emami sponsors Majek Fashek to rehab

I can clearly remember years ago while growing up, Majek Fashek's song 'Free Mandela' used to be on TV and radio almost everyday. I enjoyed watching him with his guitar playing and singing away heartily "yeh yeh yeh yeh free Mandela...Majek Fashek, in Africa...". Majek could be described as a musical legend of the 90's. And right before this post, i listened to 'Free Mandela' and it didn't fail to bring back that magic.

So i feel really bad hearing what life has turned this lovely man into, or rather what he has turned his life into. Several artists have cried out sadly on social media after seeing our once great reggae singer on the streets of Lagos dressed messily and begging for alms. Then a cold shrill runs through my spines. Do we blame the music industry for being unable to take care of one of its own or do we blame Majek for falling prey to the lurings of drugs and other hard substances?
Well, on the brighter side, Warri based billionaire and the CEO of 911 entertainment Ayiri Emami has finally put a bold foot forward and moved the reggae artist into a rehab home in Abuja. Reports have it that several specialists have been flown into the country on his behalf and i strongly pray that they will be able to salvage what is left of this once great singer.
